Wandering Star Ranch - Price Reduced




Located in West Central Idaho’s beautiful community of Garden Valley, the Wandering Star Ranch encompasses approximately 47 private acres with Scriver Creek frontage, dramatic river and mountain views, and year round access. LOCATION

The Wandering Star Ranch is located in Garden Valley, Idaho, Boise County. The property is about 40 miles north of Boise, Idaho. Southwest, U.S. Airways, United, Delta and other airlines service Boise Airport. There is a small grass airstrip in Garden Valley located near the South Fork of the Payette River.

Access to the ranch from Boise is Highway 55, which is the entrance to Payette River Country, and was designated as the Payette River Scenic Byway. Turning east from Banks on Route 17, where the South Fork and the North Fork of the Payette River meet, traverses through nine miles of breathtaking scenery on the way to Garden Valley, and is also designated Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway. Turning left up the Middle Fork Road will take you to the small town of Crouch, and then five miles to the ranch.

Garden Valley, Idaho is a very desirable location surrounded by national forests, mountains, and rivers. The Payette River system is known for world class rafting, with whitewater classifications from I-IV. Commercial guide services offer guided trips from spring through fall. The Payette River Whitewater Roundup is a qualifying event for the U.S. Olympic Junior Kayaking team, and is held in July. Much of the Middle Fork of the Payette River is located on federal land, and offers camping, canoeing, light kayaking, swimming and fishing.

Garden Valley is dissected by the South Fork and the Middle Fork of the Payette River, and the surrounding forest lands abound with wildlife, to include elk, deer, bear, fox, mountain lion, hawks, and water fowl. There is an extensive trail system surrounding the Garden Valley area, which connects to the national forests, wilderness areas and neighboring communities. These trails are utilized for a variety of recreational activities such as snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hiking, horseback riding, ATV riding, camping, hunting, and fishing. There are also two improved and several unimproved hot springs in the area.

Garden Valley has a post office, restaurants, and a variety of basic services. www.gvchamber.org Crouch is a sleepy little town with services from local businesses, including a restaurant/saloon, hardware store, grocery store, credit union, art gallery, and a local theatre. Terrace Lakes Resort, which is also a few minutes from the ranch, has a restaurant and an 18-hole golf course located in a gorgeous setting. Boise, which is less than an hour drive from the ranch, is a quintessential college town and home to Boise State University. One will find everything imaginable in the way of services in Boise and the surrounding communities, such as numerous restaurants, theatres, and shopping malls.

CLIMATE

Garden Valley has a true four season climate. Every season is unique and picturesque. The seasonal changes present fabulous wildlife viewing and other outdoor recreational opportunities.

RECREATION

Idaho encompasses 13 different national forests, and boasts massive wilderness areas such as the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. With 2.2 million acres, it is the largest wilderness area in the country outside of Alaska. Together with the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, another 1.3 million-acre preserve, the two areas are more than twice the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined.

The Wandering Star Ranch offers a vast number of recreational opportunities both on and off the property. Because of the property’s central location and close proximity to national forests, public lands, wilderness areas, hot springs, lakes, rivers and streams, it is simply an outdoor paradise. Idaho is famous for fishing. There are 1,500 mountain lakes, reservoirs, large natural lakes, and countless rivers and streams, including 10 world-class blue ribbon trout streams. Idaho is the only inland western state with ocean run salmon and steelhead. Fishing opportunities from the ranch begin with trout fishing in Scriver Creek, which borders the south portion of the ranch, to endless lakes, reservoirs, rivers and streams in the surrounding national forests and public lands.

Idaho also has some of the best hunting in the west, from trophy moose and bighorn sheep to deer, elk, antelope, black bear, and mountain lion. The state is also known for hunting upland game, turkeys and waterfowl. As with all other outdoor activities, the Wandering Star Ranch presents a variety of fantastic hunting adventures just outside your backdoor.

Winter sports are very popular in Idaho. There are more than 16 different alpine ski areas, from Magic Mountain in the southern most part of the state to Schweitzer in the extreme north. There are a number of great skiing areas within a short drive from the ranch to include, Bogus Basin and Brundage Mountain. Snowmobiling is another favorite Idaho winter sport, and the Garden Valley area is no exception. Garden Valley and the surrounding areas are renowned for fabulous snowmobiling because of the 5000 mile trail system and never-ending groomed trails. One can have great fun snowmobiling on the ranch, or ride directly from the ranch and access the fabulous trail system.

WILDLIFE

The Wandering Star Ranch is strategically located in a wildlife corridor, and a diverse array of wildlife frequent the ranch including deer, elk, fox, hawks, geese and many other species. There are also several fishable rivers and streams, including Scriver Creek and the Middle Fork River.

RANCH OVERVIEW

The Wandering Star Ranch consists of approximately 47 picturesque acres, and is one of the most prestigious properties in Garden Valley, given the incredible location, acreage, and improvements. The ranch sits at approximately 3,000 feet in elevation in a valley that is dissected by the Middle Fork of the Payette River. The views of the Middle Fork River and the surrounding mountains from the ranch are unparalleled. There is more than 1 mile of frontage on Scriver Creek, which is a pristine year around creek that flows into the Middle Fork, and is the southern boundary of the ranch. The Elk Springs Ranch is a domestic elk ranch located directly across the Middle Fork Road from the property. Domestic elk can be seen year round from the ranch, and can be heard bugling during the fall mating season. The Wandering Star Ranch is accessed from the Middle Fork Road, which is a paved county maintained road. The Middle Fork Road (FR 698) continues north from the ranch, and winds through the Boise National Forest and unbelievable scenery. It is one of the many access roads into the national forest and public lands from the property. The ranch is a mixture of lush grass hay fields, pastureland, large ponderosa pines, cotton wood trees, aspen trees, wild apple trees, and other vegetation. The main house, barn and guest quarters sit on a gently sloping bench, which is accessed by a paved quarter mile driveway via the Middle Fork Road. There is an extensive road system on the ranch that provides access to every part of the property. The ranch is completely fenced and cross fenced. The lower portion of the ranch has a historic barn circa 1898, and is a well known Garden Valley landmark along the Middle Fork Road.

IMPROVEMENTS

The Wandering Star Ranch is accessed via an automated security gate with an inviting large natural stone entryway. The main home is a custom designed two-level, three and a-quarter bath, two car garage home totaling approximately 4,600 square feet under roof, with approximately 2600 livable square feet. The home is heated with a forced air propane furnace, and has a beautiful river rock gas fireplace. The residence is completely landscaped with expansive mature lawns, Blue Spruce trees, plum trees, flowers, and a water feature. The landscaped grounds have an extensive automatic sprinkler system. There are spectacular views from every room of the home, to include the Middle Fork River, mountains, and the Elk Springs Ranch. These views are also seen from the large covered wrap-around porch and back porch which have an outdoor speaker system.
