LOCATION & AREA
The ranch is conveniently located one mile off of County Road 11, which is a national scenic by-way, and 30 miles from the historic gold mining mountain town of Cripple Creek, which has legalized gambling. The charming little town of Guffey is about 17 miles to the north, and Canon City, which offers all medical services, and shopping, is 25 miles southeast of the ranch. The Colorado Springs airport is one hour and 15 minutes away, and it is one hour and 30 minutes to the major ski resort at Breckenridge and about the same distance to Monarch, a wonderful family ski area.
The general area in which the ranch is located is a combination of large working cattle ranches, primary residential properties, and second home recreational properties, varying in size from 35 acres to several thousand acres. A portion of Woodlands Ranch adjoins the Deer Haven Wildlife Sanctuary, which is administered by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), and allows only foot and horse traffic. World-class fishing is available in the Arkansas River, approximately 12 miles from the ranch. Deer and elk are plentiful, on the ranch, and in the general area.
