LOCATION & AREA

The Pierce Ranch is located north of Roswell, New Mexico 21 miles off of highway 285 and west about 14 miles. Roswell is in the county seat of Chaves County in the southeastern New Mexico and is a center for irrigation farming, dairying, ranching, manufacturing, distribution, and petroleum production.

Located in the high plains, Roswell has four very distinct seasons, giving it a semi-arid climate. Winters are cold, but usually sunny and snowfall is a common occurrence. The average low is in the winter months is 25 degrees while the average high in summer is 90 degrees.

ACREAGE & DESCRIPTION

This ranch consists of 5,380 +/- acres of BLM 1,545 +/- acres of state lease and 423 +/- deeded acres. The typography is rolling hills with flat tops and also in the bottom of the macho draw. This ranch is permitted to run 159 cattle.

WILDLIFE & RECREATION

Because of the diverse terrain and the macho draw, deer, antelope and barbary sheep are common on the ranch. There have been several trophy deer and antelope taken from this ranch in the past few years.

IMPROVEMENTS

The residence located on the ranch is a small three-bedroom home, which was originally built by the current owner’s granddad when they homesteaded there. Minor improvements have been made to the home.

Located just south of the house is a set of holding pens. The water system contains one well that is approximately 450 to 500 feet deep and operates a two-horse pump that fills a 40x40 x5 concrete storage tank lined with fiberglass. From the tank a three-horse pump sends the water out to the ranch where the BLM has water lines and rubber tire tanks with storage.
